Two Carlsbad Men Make "Top 500 Delinquent Taxpayers" List

The Carlsbad residents on the California Franchise Tax Board list each owe around $300,000.

The California Franchise Tax Board issued Thursday a list of the "Top 500 Delinquent Taxpayers."

The delinquent taxpayers, including the two in Carlsbad, face a number of new consequences including:

  • Publishing the names and titles of corporate officers of listed corporations.
  • Publishing professional license information
  • Authorizing FTB to enter into reciprocal agreements with other states to offset refunds and collect tax debt
  • Prohibiting state agencies from entering into contracts with the Top 500

The FTB began issuing the list of top offenders in 2007 and has collected nearly $177 million, according to a press release. However, the list excludes tax liabilities under appeal, in litigation, or in bankruptcy proceedings. The list will be updated again in April.

Individuals who are past due can call 888-426-8555 and business owners can call 888.426.8751.

Ok, why not print their names? Anyone who pays taxes, which is the majority of people should be outraged at these scofflaws and deadbeats.
