Traffic Lane Closed on El Camino Real Aug. 8-10 During Road Widening

El Camino Real will be limited to one southbound traffic lane between Cassia Road and Dove Lane through Aug. 10 from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.

El Camino Real consists of two southbound lanes and a bicycle lane at that location. The new construction will add a third southbound traffic lane, replace the existing bicycle lane and add a new sidewalk between Poinsettia and Dove lanes.

The work is being done as part of a development agreement between the and City Ventures Homebuilding, which is constructing 53 townhomes on the northwest corner of El Camino Real and Dove Lane.

City Ventures is paying 100 percent of the road improvement cost. City of Carlsbad Inspector Rob Slempa said that the third southbound lane will open at 3:30 p.m. on Friday with temporary road striping. Permanent striping will be painted on the road surface by Aug. 15. To minimize the inconvenience to the public, work hours are limited to 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., avoiding the busiest travel times. Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area if possible, taking alternate routes to avoid delays during construction.
