We sat down with Amnon Zakay, owner and operator of the Raz International hair loss clinic in San Diego to ask him some questions about hair restoration and his process.

What sparked your desire to help people with their hair loss?
As a young man on my early twenties I started losing hair over my crown area. I know how embarrassing and frustrating it is. I still hold this memory and feel so grateful for being able to help those suffering from hair loss. Having the opportunity and skills I have to help other people that are going through a similar situation is a real calling for me.

What type of hair restoration do you provide?
We offer fully customized hair additions that are fully handcrafted. The hair addition is matches the client’s own hair and is well attached using non-chemical adhesives and, in most instances, no adhesives at all. Once the hair is attached, the client is able to maintain daily activities.

How long have you been providing hair restoration?
I have been providing hair replacements and hair restoration since 1982.
What is your consultation process like? Can you walk us through the experience a client will receive when they come in for a complimentary consultation?
It's a very informative consultation. It's provided by me, the owner/founder of Raz International. It is NOT a sales meeting and its pressure free. During the consultation I can evaluate the client's hair situation to provide the most professional and honest advice. A 10-minute educational video that shows an actual procedure will be shown as well.
How long does the process take on average from consultation to the actual procedure?
It takes 6 to 8 weeks to produce the custom, handmade hair addition, then about 2 hours to do the actual treatment. The client is then invited to a follow up appointment to do any bedded adjustments.
Is there any scheduled maintenance required after the procedure?
Once the customer becomes our client and receives our hair addition we become their hair salon; about once every 6 weeks they will need maintenance service, which is just the same as trip to the hair salon.
About how many procedures would you say that you have performed?
Over the course of 30 years I have literally performed thousands of hair loss solution services to men and women around the world and in San Diego.
What is the most important thing you want people to know about your hair restoration?
I build a long term relationship with my clients that’s more than just providing new hair. In my relationships with clients I provide professionalism, integrity, commitment, service, accessibility, and a personal, caring approach. All of these factors make me the leader of hair restoration in San Diego.
