Carlsbad 6-Year-Old Organizes Locks of Love Event for Entire Community

Lilli Pisarczyk, a first grader at Hope Elementary is hoping others feel inspired this time of year to give the gift of hair to financially disadvantaged children suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Six-year-old Lilli Pisarczyk heard about Locks of Love after her friend particapted in a hair cutting drive in La Costa.

"Once she heard about that.. she wanted to do it," said Lilli's mother, Melanie Sliwka. "I just attended Amy Miller's parenting class and learned a lot about empowering our kids so I asked Lilli if she would want to organize an event so others could donate as well...and she was off and running."

Lilli started making posters and even phone calls to arrange the hair dressers.

"I'm just here to help and be her right hand mom," Sliwka said.
