Army and Navy Academy Gets Once in a Lifetime Opportunity to go to Normandy

The Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad was recently selected by the D- Day 70 Years Commemoration Committee to represent the State of California in Normandy, France, June 3- 11, 2014.

The Army and Navy Academy in Carlsbad was recently selected by the D- Day 70 Years Commemoration Committee to represent the State of California in Normandy, France, June 3rd- 11th, 2014.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity for our cadets, but it is also a huge honor for the City of Carlsbad.

June 6, 1944 was a milestone in modern history. It marked the Allied invasion of German occupied France; this invasion was the beginning of the Liberation of Europe from Nazi tyranny. The sacrifices of our military this day strengthened our nation and our world. ANA cadets’ time in France will help them commemorate and honor the Americans who participated in the events of D-Day; it will also help the cadets prepare to be the leaders of tomorrow through lessons of history and examples of courage.

Army and Navy Academy needs help to send the cadets to Normandy for the 70th anniversary of D-Day. The cadets will be selected based on grades, citizenship, leadership, and evaluation by their JROTC Instructor. The total cost of the trip is approximately $4,000 per cadet; the school will be sending 36 cadets to Normandy.
