Aviara Oaks Elementary and Middle Schools Closed Friday Due to Power Outage

Carlsbad Unified School District Superintendent Suzette Lovely decided to keep the schools closed Friday in case power could not be restored after a major power outage Thursday.

The following was posted on Carlsbad Unified School District's Facebook page:

The Aviara Oaks Elementary and Aviara Oaks Middle Schools experienced a major power outage November 1. While crews are working through the night to restore power, there is no guarantee power will be restored in time for tomorrow’s classes. Superintendent Suzette Lovely met with the site principals and other management team members about the situation. Based on the input and discussion, the Superintendent determined that Aviara Oaks Elementary and Aviara Oaks Middle Schools will be closed tomorrow. This decision was not taken lightly.

Superintendent Lovely apologizes for the inconveniences this places on families, and thanks the staff and students for their shared effort at school today.

Kids Care for Aviara Oaks families will move to the Multipurpose Room at Poinsettia Elementary tomorrow starting at 7:30 AM.

Site principals will contact staff with additional information.
