Aviara Oaks Elementary School Honors Veterans

AOE staff and students met at the flagpole Friday morning to honor those men and women who serve or have served their country in our Armed Forces.

By Melanie Frenkel and CUSD

Friday morning Aviara Oaks Elementary in Carlsbad honored our military with an early Veteran’s Day ceremony.  Students were asked to invite their family, friends, and neighbors that are veterans, active duty military, or spouses of military to attend the ceremony.  The morning started with the AOE Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts hosting a breakfast reception in which children also thanked soldiers with handmade letters. AOE Principal Mrs. Leslie Harden led the annual flag raising ceremony for the entire student body, teachers, parents and dozens of invited guests.

LCpl Justin Reyes, LCpl Roy Ulukivaiola and PFC Cesar Menendez Lozano from Camp Pendleton raised the flag,  and ASB students read a poem promising that those who serve will be “In our hearts, in our prayers, and in our minds for all times.”
