Carlsbad Girl is a Swimming Sensation

Five-year-old Amelia Callan is a fish in the water, thanks to her dad.

Brett Callan affectionately refers to his daughter as a human jellyfish.

“She is so relaxed in the water,” said Callan.  “I used to have to explain to her that she had to have a little sense of urgency in the pool to make it across.”

Amelia’s comfort level is no surprise when you consider she has been around water since birth. Callan is the facilities director and a third generation instructor at Murray Callan Swim School in San Marcos.

“After Amelia was born, my wife returned to work and Mia came to the swim school with me every day for the first year," said Callan.  "Her first experience in the water was at seven weeks and she was pretty much self-sufficient by the time she was 18-20 months old.”

Callan is also a photographer and has taken many underwater shots of Amelia over the years, like the one at the right.

When she’s not getting her feet wet, Amelia loves to play piano and do art projects at home or at kindergarten.

Callan says she may join a swim team in the future.

“She’s not extremely competitive yet, except when it comes to her younger brother.  That’s an entirely different story!”

'...MPH degree program to attend a 3-day workshop ... challenge the CNA licensure examination inRead More California.... ... Aristotle felt that by becoming licensed professionals in the U.S. shortly after their arrival to the shores of the U.S., they would have a greater opportunity to receive better clinical positions when they applied for the work-study internships that they were eligible to participate in....' the school told students that were enrolled in masters' degrees that certification as a cna was part of the road to obtaining a masters degree ?? stop right there... masters in public health is an administrative position that has nothing to do with being a cna....and i'm sure people didn't travel thousands of miles to do the grunt work in a hospital.... yea, getting a cna license is a great suggestion for an 18 year old that's going into the nursing field....but not for someone in the masters' program.... and fyi phony college.....in this country a person has to have a 4 year degree before they can apply for the masters' program....
