Carlsbad High Senior Awarded for Excellence in Track and Field
Breana Jemison is currently the best female shot-putter in California.
Carlsbad High School senior and pre-eminent shot-putter Breana Jemison received the 2011 Amateur Significant Achievement Award in Track and Field at the San Diego Hall of Champions’ 66th Salute to the Champions gala held on February 15, 2012.
Breana captured the 2011 California State Girls Title in shot-putting with a 43-foot, 1-1/4-inch shot.
Breana joins another Carlsbad Unified School District sports phenomenon as a Salute to Champions honoree. Olympic snowboarding gold medalist Shaun White, who graduated from Carlsbad Seaside Academy, was recognized as Professional Star of the Year in the category of Action Sports.
