Local Celebrities Help Aviara Oaks Elementary Mom Win $15,000 for Science in Schools

Carlsbad mom and robotics coach Anna Lozar won Time Warner Cable's national "Super Connector Search."

The (CEF) was awarded $15,000 for it's science, technology, engineering and math program.

Not only did CEF win the grant to be used at all schools, the students are won a special "mad science" assembly.

In front of giddy students, Anna Lozar was given a check and huge round of applause. Lozar is is CEF’s  program manager.

Lozar won the contest after getting more than 140,000 online votes. Patty Johnson with CEF said the win would not have been possible without social media. Aviara Oaks Elementary school mom Valishia Savage who was on ABC's "The Bachelor" reached out to her friends from the show who in turn reached out to their celebrity friends. Soon , professional baseball player Heath Bell and Bachelorette Ali Fedotowsky were encouraging their social networks to vote for Lozar.
