Carlsbad Speech and Debate Team Among Best in Nation
Carlsbad High School's team is rated in the top five percent in the U.S.
The Carlsbad High School Speech and Debate Team is tearing it up at tournaments.
The award winning program is run by Minnia Curtis.
The team won top honors Sept. 24 and 25 at the Varsity Individual Events Tournament. CHS members took first place in more than half of the events, including:
Yujia Pan—Expository Speaking
Davin Curtis—Advocacy
Dominic Shoopman—Congress Presiding Officer
Natalya Phillips—Thematic Interp
Natalya Phillips and Alexandria Miller—Duo Interp
Ashley Hope—Oratorical Interp
Maggie Munn—Original Prose and Poetry
Andoni Garcia also took his first place in Lincoln Douglas at the Varsity Debate Tournament on Sept. 17.
