Carlsbad Student Tony Ibrahim 1 of 250 Coco-Coca Scholars

Of the 250 attendees, 50 will be recognized as National Scholars and will receive $20,000 scholarships, while the remaining 200 will receive $10,000 scholarships.

Tony Ibrahim, Pacific Ridge School Senior, has been dreaming about college for as long as he can remember. Since beginning high school, Ibrahim has put his heart and soul into planning for his future. In October 2012, Ibrahim applied to the Coca-Cola Scholars program in hopes of receiving a scholarship to use towards his future college tuition.

In February of this year, Ibrahim was selected as a Coca-Cola Scholar – one of only 250 chosen from a pool of 110,000 applicants. This month, Ibrahim will be flown to the Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta, Ga., for a celebratory Scholars Weekend. He, along with the 249 other Scholars, will tour local landmarks, engage in a community service project, attend a banquet with keynote speaker Tom Brokaw, and participate in an interview with the Coca-Cola National Selection Committee.

Ibrahim’s application for the Coca-Cola Scholars program highlighted his academic achievements and many extra-curricular contributions. Ibrahim is a top student, and serves as student council president at Pacific Ridge School, He is an Eagle Scout, and has also traveled abroad to countries such as Rwanda to partake in service projects. Last year, he spent a semester in Washington, D.C. at the School for Ethics and Global Leadership, a selective program for motivated high school students interested in international affairs.

“It is truly an honor to be a part of the 25th class of Coca-Cola Scholars,” said Ibrahim. “Being named a Coca-Cola Scholar is one of the greatest awards I have ever received. Coca-Cola is giving me the opportunity to join a community of outstanding student leaders dedicated to making the world a better place, and that is the greatest gift of all!”

Ibrahim follows in the footsteps of two other Pacific Ridge School students who have been recognized by the Coca-Cola Scholars program: Anisha Mudaliar ’11, a Regional Scholar in 2011, and Stephanie Sapp ’12, a Semifinalist in 2012.
