Learn a simple, easy to follow and clinically proven mind body practice to promote holistic health and assist in healing at the Free Introduction to Qigong class held Monday, January 13 from 7 - 8:30 PM at Hidden Pine Qigong Studio, 4824 Neblina Drive in Carlsbad.

Qigong, pronounced "Chee-kung"created thousands of years ago for longevity, is today a branch of Traditional Chinese Medicine (acupuncture) and scientifically proven by National Institute for Health and other medical research programs to benefit many health challenges.

The class is led by Fay McGrew, M.A., Q.T.P. (Medical Qigong)  a practitioner of mind body for over 43 years who received the highest level of teacher certification by the American Tai Chi Qigong Association.Over the past 12 years, Fay established Qigong programs at Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine, UCSD Center for Integrative Medicine, San Diego Cancer Research Institute, Naval Medical Center San Diego - Mind Body Medicine Program, and recently at Naval Medical Hospital Camp Pendleton - Holistic Health Services.

Qigong helps to release stress, regulate blood pressure, relieve pain, increase energy, improve sleep patterns, enhance mental acuity and assist in healing process through gentle breathing exercises, guided imagery, meditation, gentle easy to follow movements to release physical and energetic blockages done standing, seated in a chair or lying down. No floorwork like yoga, nor memorization and complicated movements as in Tai Chi.
