Her Love for Soccer Runs in the Family
Seven-year-old Carlsbad student is proud to have her mom as her coach.
It’s back to school time and that means many kids in Carlsbad are also heading back to the soccer field.
“I really like playing defense and forward,” said Alli Hill, a player on one of the La Costa AYSO (American Youth Soccer Organization) teams.
“I always dreamed of having a daughter to coach and now I have two,” said Stacey Hill, Alli’s mother. “I started playing AYSO soccer when I was 8 and my dad was the coach. So this is very special for me.”

Hill played with AYSO until she was 13 and then joined an adult league in college. She’s hoping 7-year-old Alli and 3-year-old daughter Ava also develop a lifelong passion for soccer.
Alli will be a second-grader at Carrillo Elementary School and enjoys reading and writing. When she’s not scoring goals, she’s at ballet class, kickboxing or playing the piano.

“I guess piano could be considered a sport because you’re exercising your fingers,” said Alli.
