Lancer Dancers Beat the Odds to Become National Champions

The Carlsbad High team is made up of mostly new members this year and they almost didn't make the flight to nationals in Florida, yet they still managed to come out on top.

Most of the Lancer Dancers have been dancers since before kindergarten. They all dance for other companies outside of the high school team. Together, they proved they are unstoppable despite having quite the rocky start.

This year's team has only four returning members, one being a senior. Getting to the National Championship in February at Disney World was also no easy task. Their flight got cancelled and important carry-on luggage had to be checked.

They managed to make it on time with all their gear to beat out more than 600 high school teams from around the country. They won first place in their hip-hop routine and third in their jazz routine. Their performances were seen nationally on ESPN.
