New Principal Selected for La Costa Heights Elementary

Christine Kay is the new principal of La Costa Heights for the upcoming school year.  She replaces Dr. Leighangela Brady who is now Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services. Mrs. Kay has served as a classroom teacher and summer enrichment principal for the Solana Beach School District and most recently as Assistant Principal for the San Onofre K-8 School in the Fallbrook Union Elementary School District. She holds a Bachelor of Arts and a Masters in Education Administration from California State University San Marcos.

Mrs. Kay joins Encinitas with a strong educational background and is considered an innovative leader. She has led a variety of programs from Gifted and Talented Education to Community and Safe School Planning. She has experience in overseeing program initiatives, data analysis, staff development and instructional coaching. She places a strong emphasis on collaboration with both staff and parents to insure student success. Supervisors, co-workers and parents describe Mrs. Kay as a passionate educator with strong interpersonal skills.

Mrs. Kay shares that it is her “fundamental belief that all children can learn and be successful” and her passion has always been public education. Mrs. Kay is looking forward to “leading the dynamic team at La Costa Heights and supporting the students as they become the future leaders of the 21st century.” Superintendent Tim Baird shared his confidence in Christine Kay and is looking forward to her joining the district’s instructional leadership team.
