Pacific Ridge Students Sign National Letters of Intent

Last week, two Pacific Ridge High School seniors signed national letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Last week, two Pacific Ridge High School seniors signed national letters of intent to continue their athletic careers at the collegiate level.

Sean Gartland has signed on to swim at Purdue University. Gartland, a nationally ranked swimmer, currently competes for North Coast Aquatics, specializing in distance freestyle, individual medley and the backstroke. According to Gartland, Purdue feels like the perfect fit for him to reach his full potential athletically and academically. He plans to pursue a degree in Engineering.

Golfer Isabella Salant signed with Santa Clara University. Salant, a four-year member of the Pacific Ridge Varsity Co-Ed Golf Team, said she is most looking forward to forming relationships with her new teammates at Santa Clara, and finding camaraderie in what is typically a solitary game. Salant hopes to study at the university’s Leavey School of Business.

Gartland and Salant will join a growing group of Pacific Ridge alumni competing at the collegiate level. Of the 162 members of the school’s first three graduating classes, seven athletes have gone on to compete in NCAA programs.
