Win $5,000 at the CEF Helicopter Golf Ball Drop

Five hundred golf balls will be dropped over the The Crossings Golf Course on Oct. 19. The first ball to go into a designated hole (or closest to it) wins $5,000.

Support a good cause and see if Oct. 19 is your lucky day.

Before the shotgun start of the 12th Annual Carlsbad Golf Classic on Friday, Oct. 19, a helicopter will hover over The Crossings golf course dropping 500 golf balls as part of a new fundraiser for the Carlsbad Educational Foundation. Golf balls are available for purchase starting at $20 and the owner of the first ball to go into the designated hole (or be closest to the pin) wins $5,000.

If cash doesn’t tempt you, you can also purchase an opportunity to win an exclusive TaylorMade Clubfitting experience at The Kingdom. Each ticket is $50 and provides the chance to win a personalized club fitting, a state-of-the-art swing analysis and a full set of TaylorMade clubs built to your personal specifications. A package valued at $5,000!

The winner of the “Chopper Dropper” will be announced immediately following the ball drop. Winners of the TaylorMade opportunity and the Golf Classic will be announced at the dinner immediately following tournament play. Participants do not need to be present to win either opportunity drawing.

The goal of the event is to help the Carlsbad Educational Foundation raise funds to support hands-on science initiatives, music and innovative programs for the 11,000 students in Carlsbad Schools – programs that would not exist without this funding.

“Last year’s golf tournament was our most successful ever raising nearly $100,000.  This year, we’re raising the bar with the exciting new helicopter ball drop, a wine-tasting component, TaylorMade contest prizes, and a chance for one lucky golfer to shoot a hole-in-one for $1 million!  It’s all in support of helping our public schools do great things for our students in a critical time of need,” shared Valin Brown, CEO of the Carlsbad Educational Foundation.

The event begins at 10:30 a.m. with check-in and contests, the ball drop at 11:45 a.m. and tournament play begins at noon. Followed by wine tasting, dinner, silent and live auctions and awards 6 p.m.

The “Chopper Dropper” is limited to just 500 balls while the Taylormade clubfitting opportunity is unlimited.  Education supporters from all over the country are invited to participate as the winner does not have to be present to win either prize.

Tournament slots and sponsorship opportunities are also still available. For contest, sponsorship and registration details, or to purchase balls for the “Chopper Dropper” or to enter the opportunity drawing for the exclusive TaylorMade golf experience, visit CarlsbadEd.org or contact Patty Johnson at 760-929-1555.
