8 Carlsbad Golfers Compete in Callaway Junior World Championships

The three- and four-round tournaments were played at a variety of courses in San Diego, including some in North County: Torrey Pines Golf Course (North and South), Lomas Santa Fe South, Rancho Bernardo Inn, and the Welks Resort Executive Course.

Hundreds of young golfers from around the world competed in the Callaway Junior World Championships last week in San Diego. The golfers were ages 7-17.

The field included eight participants from Carlsbad. 

Aliea Clark, 17, was the lowest scoring local, carding a +7 through four rounds to finish tied for 21st in her age group. 

The other Carlsbad golfers finished as follows:

  • Dylan Oyama, 9 (+28, T74 in group)
  • Carter Plousha, 12 (+13, T42 in group)
  • Cullen Plousha, 14 (+11, T70 in group)
  • Isabella Salant, 17 (+17, missed cut)
  • Tommy Stephenson, 12 (+26, T93 in group)
  • Karen Tsuru, 8 (+27, T15 in group)
  • Alana Uriell, 16 (+14, missed cut)

Only the 15-17 age group played in four-round tournaments.
