Two years ago, Dr. Bart Billings who specializes in post –traumatic stress for both military and civilians, acquired Joey’s Smokin’ BBQ in La Costa, and added Doc’s Saloon, making it a warm welcoming environment for support and community conversations.

With the recent death of 2 Navy Seals, Dr. Billings in collaboration with organizations like the SPERR Group with the Operation Mental Freedom Program and The United Studios of Self Defense is dedicating the 2nd annual All American Blues Festival as a fundraiser for 2 outstanding organizations The Navy Seal Foundation and The ALS Foundation.

The Navy Seal Foundation provides immediate and ongoing support to SEALS and their families and The ALS Foundation, known as Lou Gehrig’s disease, support research for a cure of this disorder that affects nerve cells in the brain. At this time, there is no known cure for Lou Gehrig’s disease.  The recent news about the death of 2 Navy Seals from ALS has brought to light that military personnel experience 4 times the national average for ALS.  The All American Blues Festival is raising funds to directly support the ALS Foundation walk for the cure team of Mike Oyer, who lost his life to ALS.

A known expert on combat stress, North County San Diego resident, Retired Col. Bart P. Billings, Ph.D., will be speaking this September at West Point.  He also continues to lead the longest running conference on combat stress in the world that he founded over 20 years ago. It brings together civilian and military medical and mental health professionals to collaborate and share experiences, which ultimately saves lives and raises the bar on solutions that focus on wellness and holistic practices.  Dr. Billings is known for his passionate lectures including his Congressional Testimony that bring about changes to practices that no longer serve, encouraging solutions that prevent suicide.

With community help, we can support The ALS Foundation research and treatment to save lives and The Navy Seal Foundation, which is dedicated to supporting these elite soldiers and their families. They focus on three key areas: family support services, educational programs, and legacy activities.
