Free Shirts, Food and Drinks for Bike to Work Day

City of Carlsbad Parks & Recreation will be hosting a pit stop as part of national from 6 to 9:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20 on the west side of Carlsbad Boulevard at Pine Avenue. 

Bikers will receive free T-shirts, snacks, beverages and giveaways from local bike shop, Carbon Connection. 

The event, organized regionally by SANDAG, promotes bicycling as a healthy, economical and environmentally-friendly commute choice.

“Bike to Work Day fits right in with the community’s vision of promoting biking and walking throughout the city,” said Mick Calarco, Recreation Services Manager.  “We encourage biking – whether to work, school, or just for fun – as a great way to stay healthy and enjoy the city from a different perspective.”

Bike to Work Day is presented by the San Diego County Credit Union and the Corporate Challenge is sponsored by Tri-City Wellness Center.  Other sponsors include eLiveLife.com, the San Diego Zoo, REI, Clif Bar, and State Farm. Bike to Work Month is made possible, in part, by funding from the U.S Department of Health and Human Services, through the County of San Diego.
