With the roads still slick from rain, thousands pounded the pavement Sunday morning for the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half Marathon.
Seventy-seven Carlsbad residents ran the marathon and 639 Carlsbad residents ran the half marathon.
Mario Macias, 31, from Manitou Springs, Colorado finished the marathon in first place with a time of 2:19:43, running at an average pace of a 5:20. This was his second year in a row winning the race.
