700-Plus Carlsbad Residents Compete in Carlsbad Marathon

The sold-out event took place Sunday with 2,000 entries in the marathon and 8,000 in the half marathon.

With the roads still slick from rain, thousands pounded the pavement Sunday morning for the Tri-City Medical Center Carlsbad Marathon & Half Marathon.

Seventy-seven Carlsbad residents ran the marathon and 639 Carlsbad residents ran the half marathon.

Mario Macias, 31, from Manitou Springs, Colorado finished the marathon in first place with a time of 2:19:43, running at an average pace of a 5:20. This was his second year in a row winning the race
