Carlsbad High School Speech & Debate Team Ranked 1% Nationally

Carlsbad High School Speech & Debate Team has plenty to celebrate!

Under the direction of their coach Mrs. Minnia Curtis, the Carlsbad High School Speech and Debate Team is the talk of the town! Not only are they ranked Top 1% Nationally, but this talented team recently won 1st Place Sweepstakes for the State Qualifying League Championships.  The team also won Team Individual Events and Team Debate Titles. Special congratulations to the League Debater of the Year Carter Keeling, Speaker of the Year Scott Snow, Competitor of the Year Natalya Phillips and sharing the award for Top Competitor at State Quals Carter Keeling and Natalya Phillips! In addition, 36 team members qualified to the State tournament in April.

This team owes it incredible success to hard work, long hours, talented and varied students, and a tireless coach! 

Come see this dynamic team perform at their 5th Annual Showcase Event, Friday March 22 at Dove Library’s Ruby G. Schulman Auditorium. Tickets are $5.00 for students, $10.00 for adults.
