Carlsbad Kids with Asthma Can Apply for Free Summer Camp

The Southern California Asthma Management Program (SCAMP) Camp will be June 23-28 for children between the ages of 8 –13 years old with moderate to severe asthma.

The American Lung Association in California (ALA in CA) is now accepting applications for campers with moderate to severe asthma between the ages of 8 and 13.

Southern California Asthma Management Program (SCAMP) Camp will be Sunday, June 23 - Friday, June 28, 2013.  Camp is an overnight summer camp with traditional camp activities like hiking, swimming, arts and crafts and archery. The camp is set up so campers learn skills on how to manage their asthma. There is also an experienced volunteer medical staff comprised of doctors, nurses and respiratory therapist on hand 24/7.

SCAMP Camp is open to kids from throughout Southern California, including San Diego, Los Angeles, Riverside, Orange, Imperial, and San Bernardino Counties.  Applications are due Friday, May 15, 2013.

A $35 application fee is required to apply.  The application fee will be refunded if the camper is not accepted to SCAMP Camp. There is no camper fee to attend SCAMP Camp this year. However, families who can make a donation to the ALA in CA are encouraged to do so.
