Day Trip: Get Soaked at Sea World's Aquatica Water Park

Aquatica opened June 1 in Chula Vista where Knott's Soak City used to be.

About a 45-50 minute drive from North County is San Diego's newest water park, Aquatica located at 2052 Entertainment CircleChula Vista, CA 91911.

Sea World purchased Knott's Soak City and reopened the water park with a new name, new features like Caribbean Flamingos and a refreshed look on June 1, 2013.

Tickets cost $38 for guests age 10+; $30 for guests ages 3 through 9; admission is free for guests 2 years old and younger.

If you plan on going more than twice in a year, the 2013 Season Splash Pass which offers unlimited admission for the entire year, is $69 for guests age 10+ and $61 for children 3 through 9.  Pass Memberships for both SeaWorld California and Aquatica are available starting at $190.

Be prepared to pay $15 to park as well and extra money for things like lockers and food/drinks. The pricing for food was pretty affordable considering it's theme park food.

Aquatica is open 10 a.m. daily June 1 to Sept. 2; and on weekends, Sept. 7 to Oct. 20.  Closing times vary.
