The fifth annual Carlsbad Beach Fest included a beach triathlon, duathlon, 5K run, a mile ocean swim, paddleboard races, kids run and surfing contest.

Thousands came to the June 9 event which also included musical entertainment and a shoreline cleanup organized by the San Diego chapter of the Surfrider Foundation.
