San Diego is a cleaner place after over 5,500 volunteers picked up over 100,000 pounds of debris from the local San Diego environment the last weekend in April.
In Carlsbad, there were three cleanup sites. At , 69 volunteers picked up 100 pounds of trash and 10 pounds of recyclables.
At , 83 volunteers collected 52 pounds of trash and 15 pounds of recyclables.
And at Frazee Beach, 20 volunteers found 30 pounds of trash and six pounds of recyclables.
According to I Love A Clean San Diego, "Cigarette butts and plastic bags were again the most common items picked up in most areas, but there were also a few unique items found by volunteers. This year’s unusual items include: a rocking horse, bowling pin, and five gallon bucket of pickles."
