Friends of Cardiff & Carlsbad State Beaches (FCCSB) 5th annual at South Carlsbad State Beach was a success. The non-profit nearly doubled how much it raised from $13,000 last year, to $24,000 this year.
The raised money goes towards improvements at and San Elijo state beaches.
One of the world's top ranked surfers Josh Kerr, an Australian who now lives in Carlsbad, was present signing autographs and donated one of his surfboards as a prize. Pro surfer Taylor Knox also donated items for a prize drawing.
More than 40 prizes were awarded, thanks in part to more than 25 local businesses and the pro surfers who piched in donations.
