On April 28, during the annual "Mormon Helping Hands Day of Service" more than 100 people from volunteered to give the chapel a makeover. The volunteers were from the Oceanside, and Carlsbad congregations of the LDS church.  A group of Marines also volunteered.

Thanks to the contributions of some local businesses, and the donations of money and supplies, the project was completed.  gave a cash donation to buy paint and supplies, Briggs Tree Wholesale Nursery donated more than $1,000 for plants, and planting material, and Orco Block gave a 75 percent discount on stacking blocks for the landscaping project.
