Holiday Cheer Delivered to Carlsbad Senior Citizens

Carlsbad Patch went with volunteers on a gift delivery of the "Be a Santa to a Senior" program and special presents from local students.

It was a special delivery for Carlsbad senior citizens including Tomiko "Tommy" Braxton as volunteers dropped off a little holiday cheer.

Tommy is 80 and a volunteer at the . She graciously accepted the gifts but added, "I don't deserve this."

Jack Risley says Tommy is always thinking about others. She walks all over town picking up groceries and prescription medications for those in her complex who can't leave their homes. "The delivery that we just did to Tommy Braxton is one she really appreciates because she doesn't really have any immediate family here close by."

 members like Juliet Cunningham are helping deliver 40 gifts to other seniors like Tommy this Christmas.

Each senior gets two gifts, one from Home Instead Senior Care's Be a Santa to a Senior Program and one from (Leadership in Training and Education). L.I.T.E. is a free after-school program for middle and high school students that meets in Carlsbad. They held a candy gram fundraiser to purchase gifts for the seniors.
