A look at events and important information around town this week.

Still looking for a place to celebrate New Year’s Eve? Here’s a list of 40 events throughout the county from the San Diego Tourism Authority.

Or check out our events calendar for Carlsbad NYE events like:

New Years Early Eve Yoga + Social in the Village!
Sheraton Carlsbad Resort & Spa Presents: Family Friendly New Years Eve
New Year's Eve @ 83°
New Year's Eve Terrace Cocktail Party at TWENTY/20

If you’re heading to Balboa Park on New Year’s Day, be aware that the Cabrillo Bridge is now closed to traffic until April. The historic bridge is being rehabilitated and repaved at a cost of $38 million so that it meets current earthquake safety standards.

Need help making and keeping your new year’s resolutions for 2014? Here’s a link to a government website that lists popular resolutions and the government agencies that can help. Not surprisingly losing weight is first on the list, and the National Institutes of Health have a plan for you.

Distracted driving is dangerous, especially if you’re a new driver. Starting Wednesday, California drivers under the age of 18 are prohibited from using a wireless device while driving, even if it is equipped with a hands-free option.
