Agua Hedionda Lagoon is a nature preserve based in Carlsbad. The area is filled with lush wildlife, trees and flowers along with a 400-acre lagoon.  The area has a Discovery Center and is also used for day camps, recreational boating, and all types of other events. The Discovery Center has different exhibits throughout the year, offers volunteer work and has a native garden with over 500 different types of plants and species. The center hosts numerous festivals, lectures, classes, and programs throughout the year, including the World Water Day festival and the Birds & Bees Festival among others. There are numerous hiking trails around the lagoon as well, check the map on the main website for details.
