For us long suffering Padres fans, Jerry was always a beacon of light that took us through the manyRead More lows and the less frequent highs. No disrespect to Tony Gwynn but Jerry will always be Mr. Padre.

I missed this news when it first happened. How sad. I've always enjoyed Jerry Coleman's work.

very much looking forward to when our privately-owned vehicles require no driver. google is workingRead More on it; funds used to widen freeways ought to be diverted to the google project. 90 people die on US highways, on average, every day. perfection might be impossible, but it is predictable that the driverless concept could reduce the fatality rate by about 90%. what we have now is barbaric.

i've often seen these bicyclist on el camino and how motorists zoom 15 to 30 miles over the speedRead More limit, careening past the cyclist. and i'd say to myself these guys are nuts! putting their lives in the hands of thse "careless motorists" or the DUI driver (drunks drive at all times of day/night). here is the problem. carlsbad has several roads that are on or about slopping hillsides that hit sharp turns, with a speed limit over 40 miles . in eight years i havent seen much "speed" enforcement by our police department. my heart goes out to the victims family. jack
