A San Diego freelance writer for eight years, Nicole writes for local and regional publications on the arts and culture, museums, public policy, boating, pets, wine, food and travel and has won numerous awards for her writing. She currently serves as a vice president of the San Diego Press Club.

Originally from the Washington, DC area, she worked as the executive director of two Virginia historic house museum/plantations, a community organizer and a consultant in both wine and public affairs. Nicole read history and architectural history at the University of London, where she ran the university's Wine and Food Society. She holds two graduate certificates in government relations from The George Washington University and another in feature writing from UCSD. She describes herself as a "tame human slave" to her two enchanting kittens, Amy and Alexander, who enjoy spending time aboard "their" boat on San Diego Bay with their doting pet parents.
