U-Haul Offers Residents Affected by Wildfires Free Self-Storage

Evacuees or other residents affected by this week's spate of wildfires in San Diego County will be provided 30 days of free self-storage, and U-Box portable moving and self-storage pods, by the U-Haul Company of Oceanside, the company announced today.

"These wildfires are causing tremendous amounts of damage throughout our county. Many San Diego residents have been forced to evacuate their homes and businesses," said the company's Kevin Scofield. "I hope this effort will help provide assistance to families throughout the affected areas that need support."

Customers can transport the pods themselves and place them in a warehouse, or U-Haul can pick up and deliver, according to the firm.

People in need of boxes can also take advantage of the U-Haul free "Take a Box, Leave a Box Program," which enables customers to return their reusable boxes and allows others to take them as needed.

According to the company, anyone with a reusable box can drop it off at the nearest U-Haul location and allow another family to reuse the box, free of charge, instead of throwing the reusable box into the recycling bin.
