Carlsbad Football Triumphs over Torrey Pines in First Home Game

Carlsbad High School defeats Torrey Pines in a tight game during their home opener at Swede Krcmar Field.

The Friday night lights were shining brightly down on the football team of in their first home game of the season on September 30. Going into the game against Torrey Pines, Carlsbad was 2-1 and eager to win against the team that shut them out last season.

The win for Carlsbad is most rewarding for sophomore Christian Chapman who made his first quarterback debut after senior Tanner Wrisley was out for a broken leg two weeks prior. Chapman passed for 137 yards and a touchdown while senior Shawn Cameron ran 161 yards.

On the defense side, the Lancers struggled to fend off the 288 yards gained by the Falcons throughout the night but ultimately succeeded in forcing four punts and two turnovers.

The final score was a 14-10 victory over Torrey Pines in a non league game, making not only the boys proud of their win but the Carlsbad community even prouder to consider themselves a Lancer.
